Approved by the Babcock Lumber Company’s Board of Directors October 2008.


For the men and woman who comprise Babcock Lumber Company, respecting the environment is more than good business practice-it is the responsible thing to do. We believe that continued economic growth and environmental stewardship are inextricably linked--that the quality of life depends on meeting needs without imparting detrimental impacts to the environment on which all lives depend.

As leaders in the forest and building products societies, we are committed to continuing our self perpetuating business model, authenticated by 120 years of sustainable business practices that have met the needs of past generations, as well as meeting the needs of the present, without compromising the welfare of future generations.  We will persevere in our efforts that have established Babcock as a pioneer in modern environmental stewardship, adopting strategies that enable us to move toward our environmental goals, while at the same time enhancing the value offered to our customers, as a key metric of our future business success.

On the journey toward sustainable business practices, through continuing ‘Initiatives for Improvement’, we will:


Maintain our certifications with recognized, third party environmental verifiers such as the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
Continue reduction in our waste stream through biomass generation of thermal energy for our manufacturing processes
Meet or exceed compliances with environmental requirements
Pursue prevention of pollution and elimination of waste of any kind through reuse and recycling
Implement conservation practices during the manufacturing and distribution of our products that ensure efficient use of energy resources
Design our future building projects with the goal of minimal environmental impacts
Promote the environmental stewardship, knowledge and awareness that are exemplified by our distinct track record, striving toward enlightening our trusted partners in this endeavor: our customers
